Diehl Announces run for Magisterial District Judge

January 28, 2013 • Posted by the Committee to Elect Diehl MDJ

Michael Diehl of Point Township announced his candidacy for Magisterial District Judge. District 08-3-02 includes the Townships of Point, East and West Chillisquaque, Lewis, Turbot and Delaware and the boroughs of Milton, Watsontown, Turbotville and McEwensville. Diehl, a Republican, will cross-file to seek both the Republican and Democratic nominations in the May 21st primary.

Diehl has been certified to serve as Magisterial District Judge, by the Minor Judiciary Education Board since 2011. Mike would be a full time Magistrate and give his undivided attention to the office. An Associate Broker with Square Diehl Realty, Inc. and owner of DogWatch of East Central PA, Diehl is a native of Northumberland County and resides in Point Township with Melissa, his wife of 21 years, and their son Jacob.

He is a graduate of Shikellamy High School and attended the Williamsport Hospital Paramedic Program. Diehl spent 10 years as Northumberland County’s Deputy and Chief Deputy Coroner where he worked with the District Attorney’s Office, police and multiple other agencies on 1000+ death investigations. Diehl is a life member of the Americus Hose Company of Sunbury where he volunteered as an Emergency Medical Technician for more than a decade. He is a lifelong member of Catawissa Avenue United Methodist Church and a former trustee.

Diehl’s keen understanding of how to treat people developed at an early age through emulating key role models in his life: his father Robert E. Diehl Jr., a local attorney in his 52nd year of practicing law, and his late great-grandfather the Honorable Michael Kivko who served as Northumberland County Court of Common Pleas President Judge. This skill, coupled with a diverse background uniquely qualifies Diehl to serve in the capacity of Magisterial District Judge.

“If entrusted by the voters to serve them, I would carry out the duties of the office in a fair and impartial manor; I would follow the rule of law, while treating people with the respect they deserve and the position demands.”
